Title: Executive Director
Organization: Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia
Salary: $15,000 to $18,000 depending on experience
Reports To: Board President
Classification Type: Part-time - Average 30 hours per week.
Position Summary: Oversees Youth Orchestra administration. Bay Youth has 250 student members in 5 orchestras. Coordinates with Music Director to ensure sites and equipment are prepared for rehearsal and performance. Supervises 3 person administrative staff and manages day to operations.
Responsibilities:
- Meet and plan regularly with Music Director and Board of Directors
- Supervise and coordinate weekly rehearsals and ensure rehearsal space is prepared.
- Creates master schedule and secures performance and rehearsal sites
- Manage contracts for all employees and independent contractors
- Prepare monthly reports for the board of directors including financial and membership data
- Prepare State and local grant applications with Operations Manager and Comptroller
- Look for fundraising and grant opportunities
- Secure performance and recording rights
- Provide local communication support for all of the program activities through the website, press
releases, newsletter, etc.
- Maintain database of membership, donors and alumni and utilize in mailings and recruiting
- Purchase supplies and materials as needed.
- Update website and oversee group mailing
- Respond to emails and correspondence
- Produce concert programs and season brochures and update student handbook
- Required Background and Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Access
- Supervisory experience in related field, non-profit experience a plus.
- Have access to transportation and valid driver’s license
- Clean criminal background check
- Knowledge of Classical music a plus.
- Strong communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent organizational skills with focus on details and follow through to completion.
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with students and their families
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to keep confidential information
