Dear BYSO and BYCO members and families,

Austria is the heart of music history and the Austrian born Haydn is the father of the symphony.  In June 2009, Austria is celebrating the 200th year of Haydn’s death and Bay Youth has been invited to participate.

This 12 day trip to Europe sounds fabulous: Four days in Vienna and Eisenstadt with rehearsals and performances as part of the Haydn Celebration.  Guided tours of Graz and Salzburg to see medieval Europe and Mozart’s birthplace.  After another performance in Salzburg, we will see the famous Salt Mines in Hallein and travel to Innsbruck for another performance and a great view of the Alps.  We will finish the tour in Munich, Germany.

What I like about this trip: It contains many opportunities for Bay Youth to perform and we will be visiting the stomping grounds of Haydn and Mozart – the fathers of symphonic music. 

The details: 
Dates:  June 28, 2009 – July 4, 2009  (10 nights/12 days)
Estimated cost will fall between $3200 and $3500.  Payment plans and fundraising will be scheduled over two years.
The trip is open to Symphony and Concert Orchestra members.  BYSO will be the performing ensemble.  Parent chaperones are welcome. 

Learning about and performing music of the masters of classical music is the cornerstone of what we do in Bay Youth.  This trip is an obvious step in our musical lives and one we will never forget.
