Bay Youth's concerto competition will be held on Nov 6. This has been moved earlier because we will be having our Side by Side with the VSO in March 2010.

Cellobration - Virginia’s 3rd annual Cellobration invites every cellist of ALL ages to attend a day of cello choir fun on Saturday, September 25.
If you have played 2-20+ years, whether you are an amateur or professional, we have a spot for you in the cello choir. Cello choir is like a string orchestra but with all celli!
Kirsten Cassel Greer, cello professor at the Blair School of Mu-sic at Vanderbilt University, will conduct a masterclass on

Competitions

ASTA National Solo competition

Not only will the winners of the VASTA Competition receive cash prizes
(SENIOR DIVISION - $1,000 to the first place winner; JUNIOR DIVISION -
$500.00 to the first place winner), but all the contestants will be
considered for a possible solo opportunity with one of these
orchestras:

Symphonicity: The official orchestra of Virginia Beach
David Kunkel, Music Director and Conductor

Northern Neck Orchestra: Kilmarnock
Guy Hayden, Music Director and Conductor

Petersburg Orchestra: Petersburg
Ulysses Kirksey, Music Director and Conductor

ASTA National High School Orchestra

MASTERCLASS

Dear Fellow Parents and Educators,

The Virginia Symphony Orchestra's Education and Community Engagement
Department, in conjunction with VASTA (Virginia String Teachers
Association), will be presenting a violin master class featuring VSO
Guest Artist, Chee-Yun next month! It's free and open to the public!!
Come observe and learn as Chee-Yun teaches our next generation of young
talent. Please see the attached flyer for details. Remember, this event
is less than a month away... make plans now!
